Hi, I'm Mark Richmond...

... let's build something together!

what I do...

I am a freelance front-end developer located in Beaverton, Oregon. I specialize in Flash ActionScript and HTML5 programming. I offer freelance development and consulting services in Portland and remotely.

Brands I've worked on

Disney, Kodak, Target, Office Depot, American Express, Nokia, EA, Milgard, Intel, KinderCare, InFocus, Marquis Spas, Verisign, Fox Towers, Radisys, HP, AT&T, Sharp, Planar, Legoland, Kohler, Apcon, NetIQ, Kaiser Permanente, First Tech Federal Credit Union, Nike, Microsoft and Avon.

when I'm not working...

There's more to life than sitting in front of a screen. I love getting outside, being active and trying new things. Here are some of my favorite things to do:

Lindy Hop

I started swing dancing in 2007 and quickly developed a fondness for the swing era dances of Lindy Hop, Charleston and Balboa. I have had the opportunity to frequently travel for various dancing events, workshops and competitions around the country. In addition to volunteering for a Portland Lindy Hop non-profit organization, I currently teach, compete and occasionally perform as well.

Sailing

I began sailing as a child at my grandmother's home on Devil's Lake near Lincoln City, Oregon. I'm currently learning to sail a twenty-three foot sloop in the Columbia and Willamette rivers.

Snowboarding

I skied for the first time at the age of six on Mount Hood and I've been a regular at the same mountain ever since. At about fourteen I began to transition to snowboarding and within a year or two I was fully converted. One of my favorite things to do on a powdery day is to hitchhike up Timberline road and ride the Alpine trail all the way down to Government Camp.

Climbing

My first climbing experience was in high school at the local indoor climbing gym. Since then I have dabbled in climbing in and around Oregon and Washington. My favorite places to climb are Leavenworth, Washington and Smith Rock in central Oregon.

Mountaineering

I'm fairly new to Mountaineering. I've made attempts on several mountains including Mt Hood, Mt St Helens and Mt Shuksan. I've never experienced anything more exciting or exhilarating than climbing atop a mountain.

Windsurfing

I first tried windsurfing as a young teenager was with friends at a lake near Woodland, Washington. I soon acquired a couple beginner boards and began to frequently windsurf around Devils Lake near the Oregon Coast. One of my long term goals is to try windsurfing in the Columbia River Gorge.

Photography

When I'm not doing one of the many other things that I love to do, I enjoy dabbling in photography. I'm particularly interested in dance photography although my favorite subject is probably my dog because she is so dang cute.
